Welcome to My Blog

Hello! I am Wilson Burnham and welcome to Brokeoff Mountain Lutherie, a journal about my life in Colorado and my love of building classic guitars. I hand craft beautiful classic guitars with vintage handtools-Stanley planes, Disston saws, Pexto draw knives, James Swan chisels, etc.-the only power tool I use is a router.

I began playing the classic guitar in 1974 when I was 12 years old and got the chance to study with Robert Backes and Warren Haskell, plus master classes with Christopher Parkening. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from The University of Montana at Missoula and my day job is a historic preservation carpenter.
